Marine and Offshore

Bonds entered the offshore market in the 1980s producing engineered mooring winches and anchor handling systems specifically for North Sea oil exploration.

This development led us into the commercial, military and cruise ship business where steel castings are manufactured, fabricated and machined for propulsion, steering and stabilizing applications.

Our capacity to fabricate a casting of up to 20 tonnes has enabled production of:
  • Main and Intermediate ‘A’ Brackets to BAE Systems for the Royal Navy’s T45 Destroyers and Royal Schelde on ships for the Dutch navy;
  • Castings to Rolls Royce for the UK’s two Queen Elizabeth Aircraft Carriers;
  • Large stern tube castings fabricated in two pieces and suction mouths in wear-resisting material for IHC’s latest dredgers;
  • Shaft brackets for military offshore patrol vessels
This extensive experience, combined with our quality management system, resulted in Bonds Foundry being awarded a four-year contract from the UK Ministry of Defence for the supply and refurbishment of anchors for the Royal Navy.

Cable lifters, gear wheels and kingposts are just some of the other castings we have manufactured for marine vessels.
